NOVEMBER 2009
Jarred donates his Walker and Standing Frame to Sinethemba Special Care Centre in Masiphumele because Jarred no longer needs these assistive devices due to the fact that he is standing by himself and taking his first steps.
They provide Day Care for children with special needs, Councelling, Recreational Activities, Public Education towards inclusion, Creative Stimulation programmes, Transport to and from Centres and Red Cross Hospital, Adult and Youth groups for the differently abled, Transference of care skills, Exercise, Occupational & Communication Therapies and Parent Support.
We are constantly looking to raise funds for Jarred who was born with a condition called Septo-optic dysplasia (SOD) which is a congenital malformation syndrome manifested by hypoplasia (underdevelopment) of the optic nerve, hypopituitarism, and absence of the septum pellucidum (a midline part of the brain). In a severe case, this would result in pituitary hormone deficiencies, blindness, and mental retardation (Note that Jarred is completely blind with pituitary hormone deficiencies and mental retardation).
After visiting Sinethemba today would like to be able to help them more in going forward. If you can help in any way please contact Debbie Gunning on (021) 785-2789 or email via Jarred’s website, alternatively if you can help Sinethemba by either being A Volunteer, Donating, Becoming a Member, Joining their committee or Sponsoring a child contact Lezanne De La Rey on (021) 785-5389 or email on fhknw@telkomsa.net.

Debbie (Jarred's gran) sharing a special moment with Suretta Jantjies who will benefit from the Walker.

Having fun with all the children...
